Case Studies

This 18 month old house in Brisbane’s western suburbs was recently inspected by us for a client, and it looks quite good from the street.

We found several major defects, including movement issues, incorrectly fixed structural components, no termite protection system and several areas of very poor workmanship. Consequentially our client did not go ahead with the purchase, and we estimate they saved themselves about $75,000 in rectification work.

As a result, it was established that the person who built the house was not a builder and had no licence.

The certifier who inspected the different stages of construction has since lost their licence to certify.

The QBSA are investigating the council for issuing a final certificate of completion.

The real estate agent is hoping to auction the home now because whoever buys it at the fall of the hammer automatically accepts the house as it is with all its faults.
